Waterloo Sunset

We went to London on Richard's birthday and arrived late in the day.  If we walked very quickly, could we make it to Waterloo Bridge and see the sunset?  We could!  Richard was very pleased and you can tell from my face that it made me pretty happy too!   Since this was MY idea to try to make the sunset, I think this was a pretty good present from me to my husband, don't you? (AND it didn't cost a thing! HA!)  If you think about it, sunsets (and sunrises) don't cost one cent but they are there, you just have to be able to enjoy them!  Funny thing, we noticed many people crossing the bridge with us, and you could tell they were not tourists but people who work in London, and some of them also stopped with us and admired the lovely view.

You do know the song "Waterloo Sunset" by the Kinks, don't you?

"As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset, I am in paradise,".

So, have you seen a lovely sunrise or sunset lately?  What are you waiting for?

    1. I am not a good actress, you know just how I feel by looking at my face, and I was thrilled to see this sunset and on Richard's birthday too! :-)

  4. Hi Kay

    Those are lovely photos.

Not wishing to make anyone feel old but it is just a few months short of that record being released.

    1. Ha, ha! Yes, I knew it was 50. My sister was born that year so I remember reading that. Oddly enough, I don't think the song was a big hit in the USA If it was, I think I missed it.

    1. Hey Martha! The sunset became even more spectacular and Richard took even better photos! And as darkness fell, he took more and more photos! All of this enfolded before our eyes and we were astounded at the beauty and all of it for free.

  7. Oh Kay - you should just see our sunsets here on the island- they are enough to make your heart burst with pleasure. I am sure that Graham would say the same about our sunrises but I don't usually surface until the streets are well aired!!

  8. PS Forgot to say how lovely your pictures are. You both look so happy to be "home" in England. Wouldn't mind some of your American sun though - maybe just for a couple of days! x

    1. It was nice to be in England! You are welcome to this hot sun, we have had something like 80 days with the temps over 90, including yesterday when it went to 91, I think!

  9. It's not easy to see either from our house, but some days we are blessed. It's one reason i love going to the beach, the view of the sky.

    1. We can see the sunrise from our house but not the sunset because of the trees. We like to view the sunset from Arabia Mountain!

  13. Seen both recently - it is now late enough in the year for me to witness sunrises on working days, and whenever I can, I try to look at the sunset, too.
Yesterday, O.K. and I were out cycling, and on our way back to O.K.'s village, the sunset across the fields was so magnificent, I wish I'd had my camera with me! Instead, I'll try to keep the memory of that wonderful view (and romantic situation) in my heart.

    1. Sunsets should come with the sound of trumpets to announce such beauty but they do not, you just have to notice them! Glad you saw such a beautiful one with your new love! :-)
