Ender's Great Catch!

Ender Inciarte...what a great name for a great baseball player!
Last night, the Atlanta Braves were in New York playing against the Mets.  Picture this: it is the ninth inning (last inning of the game) and the score is 4-3 with the Braves ahead.  The Mets have a man on first and one on second with two outs.  A "dangerous" hitter comes to bat, Cespedes.  He swings, the ball is going, going...right towards the right center field wall.  Our hero, Ender Inciarte, runs, runs, runs....and makes a great leap with his arm over the wall, and comes up with the ball! Out number three! Game over, Braves win!  I can just hear the Mets fans...."We wuz robbed!".  Yep, you sure were, by the great Ender Inciarte!

Now, my friends, I have been trying to get back to normal, but I still seem to be on English time, so I have to go to bed very early, which means I missed this game last night. Gee, wish I could have seen it.  Guess what! They repeated it this afternoon, so I was able to see the last two innings of the game including that great catch by Ender!  YAY!

This time last week, I was beside the sea in Eastbourne and it was like the hottest summer day. People were swimming in the sea and sunning themselves on the beach!
I tried my best to eat healthy salads while we were in England but I somehow found myself with this giant bowl of chips with a cool drink.   I couldn't eat all those chips but you know I tried! As hot as it was, it would have been nice to have had that drink with ice...but nothing doing.  Oh well, no matter...when in Rome, as they say!

Will I ever get caught up at work? Will my body ever adjust to the time again?  Will I ever make sense when I type my posts?  Stay tuned!

  1. I've seen clips of the great catch. My Tigers are still battling for a wild card spot. Your day in Eastbourne sounds idyllic.

    1. Good luck with your Tigers! We were two weeks in England and other than 3 nights in London, we were in Eastbourne the whole time and it was very nice!

  2. Will we ever get to see more England photos on this blog? :-D

    1. Ha, yes you will see them! I might have to spread them out a bit since I won't be able to go anywhere else this year having used up all my vacation time in one go!

  3. Apologies for the lack of ice. You'll have to drink in a pub next time!

    1. No worries, I have been married to a Brit long enough not to have ice in my drinks! I sure did notice that there are not as many pubs as there used to be, and the ones that we did see, had all the people crammed outside on the pavement smoking!

  4. Those down to the wire games make me nervous! You will adjust to the time change, i'm sure, but it gets harder and harder as the years go by.

  5. I remember the last time I came home from the UK and standing in line at Publix falling asleep on my feet - I did the same thing - just went home and crashed at something like 7pm.

Thanks for sharing that Braves clip - I missed it, too. Neat that the players came out of the dugout to congratulate him.

    1. I have made it until 8:30 or 9PM most nights but I wake up at 2:30 in the morning! Oh well, it will get better, I know.
Don't you just love Ender? The Braves have really improved at the end of the season. Too bad it didn't happen earlier!

  6. Your Braves have owned my Mets this year :( It was a great catch and a bad loss. The Mets are still in the playoff picture though. Luckily they are done with the Braves for this year.

    1. Hey Ed! Good luck with your Mets in the playoffs! I truly miss watching those Mets games from Shea Stadium. You could hear a lot of the fans, and they were so funny! (Did you see my post about "it's not whether you win or lose", where I mentioned Chipper Jones?) I do enjoy watching the Braves play the Mets but for ME, it is better when the Braves win!! :-)

  7. I'm not a big fan of sports but I do love a good miracle catch in baseball. My favourite kind are when the batter hits it right down the middle and the pitcher manages to catch it. Never gets old or less impressive. Good luck adjusting back to US time. Adjusting to a time difference isn't easy but it shouldn't take much longer.

    1. Yes! That pitcher has to have really quick reflexes to catch that ball! You know, I think I like all sports really. Now, my husband really doesn't care about them very much but our son...he takes after me in that regard!

  8. Missed you in Eastbourne again! We delayed our trip because I have been waiting for an appointment to go into hospital for a knee op. Now have it for 6th Oct so we could have gone to Sussex after all. Hey Ho that's life!
Hope you had the best of times in England - I am sure you did.
One day - hopefully - we will be down there at the same time.
In the meantime, looking forward to more "walks" together up Stone Mountain.

    1. Would have loved to have met up with you! Good luck with your knee op in October! We did have a nice time although I must be getting older, been a bit under the weather this past week.
Oh! And I hope to be able to walk soon, and you know you are welcome anytime! :-)

  11. I do hate jet lag. My cousin was a pilot and he said for each hour of time change, it's 1 day of recuperation. I hope you're back to normal even faster though.

    1. I have always been slower than anyone else, it must take me 2 days per hour of time change! HA!

  12. Baseball isn't big here in Australia; I've only ever seen on game live...and that was back in the early 70s. A US team was visiting Aus and I went to see the game being played in Brisbane...(capital of Queensland).

Chips are very popular here, though1 :)

    1. Funny thing, when we got back, my Dad asked me, "Do they have any ball teams over there?" (He meant baseball teams, we were watching the baseball game on the time, we way we do, talking on the phone!) Anyway, it is hard for my Dad to believe that there are places that don't have baseball! He likes all sports really but baseball is his favorite.
I could guess that chips are popular there, and I should have known you would call them chips also, whereas we call them french fries in the USA! :-)

  13. It's been a hot summer down in the south east. We had a huge temperature difference between Scotland at 15 degrees and England's south coast at 33 on the same day a couple of weeks ago. An 18 degree difference between Glasgow and Eastbourne! Hope you enjoyed your holiday. Cheaper exchange rates too now our pound has fallen post Brexit :o)

    1. Let's see...we were in England from Sept. 4th until Sept. 17th. Most of the time we were in Eastbourne, so I guess we were there when you mention that high temp! It wasn't so bad for me really, having suffering from a very hot Georgia summer. Heard on the radio, this August in Georgia was THE hottest since they began keeping records! Man, record breaking temps just follow me wherever I go! First time I ever went to England, the pound was EQUAL to the dollar...those were the days!!
